Founded in 2017 by Stefan Powell, James Powell, alongside Jeroen Wink, Tobias Knop, and Robert Werner, Dawn Aerospace is pioneering more scalable and sustainable ways to access and move around in space.
Their suborbital spaceplanes operate much like a fleet of aircraft – taking off and landing horizontally at airports – with their Aurora spaceplane designed to reach 100 km altitude multiple times per day, making space access as routine as commercial aviation.
We backed Stefan and the founding team in 2018, recognising their vision to combine rocket performance with aircraft economics and make space access routine rather than rare.
Dawn has secured over $42 million in funding at a $170 million valuation, with propulsion systems on eight operational spacecraft launched by SpaceX, Soyuz, and Vega.
Since launch, Dawn has scaled to operate across four countries and has become a leading supplier of satellite propulsion, with their technology flying on space missions globally.
