Founded in 2025 by Ashin Alex (CEO), Sam Kurian (CTO), and Jimin Seo (COO)spatial AI lab helping companies build machine learning models from complex map-based data like satellite imagery, drone footage, radar and climate records. Work that traditionally takes geospatial analysts months, they do in days.

We led Hyades' $1.5 million pre-seed round in 2026, alongside K1W1 as well as angels Tony Falkenstein and Tim Brown. The founding team secured our conviction: three founders who are exceptional individually and stronger together.

They began with a chance encounter in a physics lecture, where Alex noticed Kurian had automated his note-taking to merge diagrams, images and text into a single dataset. That idea of converting messy, multi-format data into one language, ready for machine learning, became Hyades. Jimin joined after meeting Alex on a Silicon Valley study tour.

Hyades is already expanding beyond its core platform, developing hyperspectral foundational models including HyperPrism and launching BlazerOps. Their applications span insurance, agriculture, mining, defence, and climate science.
