Venture Capital Masterclasses
From first principles to war stories:  four-session deep dive designed for investors who want to go beyond the basics and understand the intricacies of venture investing.

WHOLESALE INVESTORS ONLY

Four sessions. One complete picture of venture investing.

Each masterclass stands alone, but together they give you everything you need to invest with confidence - from how Icehouse Ventures' investment approach, through to portfolio construction, legal terms, and real stories from inside the portfolio.

Session one - 17 JUNE, 5:00pm

Investment Thesis

What makes a company worth backing? This session unpacks how Icehouse Ventures thinks about investment decisions - what we look for, why it matters, how decisions get made, and how we build conviction.

You will get an inside look at how experienced venture investors evaluate founders, markets, and opportunities.

Hosted by Icehouse Ventures Partners Barnaby Marshall and Jason Wang.

Session two - 24 JUNE, 5:00pm

Portfolio Construction

Learn how to build a resilient venture portfolio that performs over the long-term. This session covers cheque sizing, valuation, diversification, follow-on strategies, and the key differences between fund investing vs direct investing.

Using real examples from the Icehouse Ventures portfolio, you will leave with a clearer framework for thinking about startup investing as a considered strategy.

Hosted by Icehouse Ventures Partners Jack McQuire and Jo Wickham.

Session three - 1 July, 5:00pm

Key Investment Terms

Term sheets are written by lawyers. This session makes them understandable for investors.

Key investment terms will be introduced, defined and explained, brought to life with stories of how each has been used in practice.

You will leave with an understanding of key terms and why the paperwork can matter as much as the quality of the company.

Hosted by Icehouse Ventures Head of Legal Becca Gaunt and Venture Parter Tom Furlong.

Session FOUR - 8 JUly, 5:00pm

War Stories

Candid, honest reflections from Icehouse Ventures Partners on portfolio companies' successes and failures through the years.

Hear the real stories behind the deals - what worked, what didn’t, and the lessons we’ve learned from over 20 years of venture investing.
